Admission Process at No Place Like Home Health
Admissions are another topic that I get asked a lot about. The real question is how do we actually start the process to provide mom (dad, brother, sister, grandma, grandpa, etc…) care at home?
This is actually going to be a series because the reality is that to answer this one question of where do we start, leads to all of the other whirlwind processes that occur. So, in order to give you the peace of mind that you deserve I believe it to be better to walk you through the processes that occur so you understand what is involved in making sure that your loved one get the care that they need and deserve.
Part one: Referral Process
You decided that it is time to get your loved one some care. Perhaps they need someone there to help them out while you take a break (respite care). Maybe it is doing some light housekeeping or running them to the grocery store (companion care). Hands-on care is needed to assist with bathing or getting in and out of bed (personal care). There are many types of care and help that are needed and can be provided. When you call us, or your doctor provides a script, you clicked on our website and filled out some information, or maybe at church, you mentioned that you need some help and they reach out, that is called a referral.
We understand that a referral is so much more than just a word.
At our agency, we recognize that a referral is a call for action. Someone needs information or help because perhaps they just cannot do it alone anymore. We understand there is a need and that in order to help we have provided answers and solutions. We are going to ask a lot of questions. It is not going to be a quick ten-minute process. In order to help we need to understand the needs of your loved one. From there we will make a plan to ensure proper care is offered and met.
How quickly does this happen?
Once you reach out to us we try to respond immediately and that is our goal. Sometimes our admission staff is tied up with other clients or with our caregivers. If that is the case you can expect a phone call back soon thereafter, usually within an hour. If it is after hours we will reach out the next morning. If it just cannot wait, please do not hesitate to tell us it is imperative that we contact you immediately and we will.
